bucky is of mixed race. his maternal family were european immigrants from romania [ hehehe ]; paternal family is from puerto rico. he takes more after his mother in facial structure, but the body type is all from his father.
his parents were very careful to try to train him out of speaking with an accent after experiencing the discrimination it earned them; they wanted him to blend in as seamlessly as possible and not be bullied. he also learned to speak for them whenever they went out anywhere, to help them hide their accents from people who may not be too fond of immigrants. father didn't like this, but bucky didn't mind.
he's probably gotten into a few fights in school sticking up for other kids like him. maybe how he and steve met?
learned to cook from his paternal grandmother. he's not superb at it, but he's a damn sight better than steve.
it's a habit to check alleys for steve fighting FIGHT ME ON THIS HE DOES THIS OUT OF WORRY OKAY
bucky's not quite sure where the future's going to take him, but he's absolutely positive that he wants it to involve steve. what else are best friends for?
